Multiple People Shot at Howe Community Park Sacramento — Unlawful Gathering Results in Shooting
On Saturday evening, an unsanctioned event of several hundred people at Howe Park in Sacramento's Arden-Arcade neighborhood erupted in gunfire when 20 to 25 gunshots echoed through the area as Sacramento County law enforcement were in the process of dispersing the crowd.
What Happened
Around 6:30 in the evening, the SCSO received reports about people potentially carrying concealed firearms at Howe Community Park. A second report described a potential fight and people running from the area.
A sheriff's helicopter was called in and surveyed the area from above but was unable to locate any ongoing altercation.
Even so, several hundred people had congregated at Howe Park for what deputies referred to as an unsanctioned event. Law enforcement personnel positioned themselves around the park, activated emergency lights, and took about 15 minutes directing the crowd to leave using public address systems.
As deputies were in the process of dispersing attendees, 20 to 25 rounds of gunfire echoed through the area — sending hundreds of people running in a panic.
Shooting Victims
Four people — one female and three males, all believed to be in their 20s — were rushed to local hospitals. Two victims had injuries classified as immediate, one suffered moderate injuries, and one had minor injuries. All four were said to be in stable condition.
